We envision a future where...
Childcare is a collective responsibility and joy.
It takes a village to raise a child—and care strengthens the village.
Imagine an America that...
We not only fully engage those in our vicinity, our identities are grounded in who we are in relation to our “Village” members.
Imagine an America that...
Every single person in “our corner” is socially and legally considered family.
Imagine an America that...
Our physical and natural spaces are all about fostering relationships and encouraging collective living.
Imagine an America that...
We move past heteronormative and gendered ways of childrearing to expansive modes of pouring into our children.
Imagine an America that...
Our caregivers are key members of our communities, and we look after and care for them as such.

How it shows up today
Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska
In their own words, “Proud heritage, a unique culture, an illustrious history, a distinct language and beautiful music; these are the foundations upon which our lives as Ho-Chungra are based.” Also foundational within the tribe is community: the collective full investment in raising the young, the involvement of elders in decision-making, a center for family support services, and checking on one another’s wellbeing.
Playful Learning Landscapes
Built around a belief that adults and children learn valuable skills from play, this nonprofit has reimagined 10+ physical spaces across the U.S. - in traditional places like parks and playgrounds, as well as less traditional places like supermarkets, laundromats, and museums. From painting popular streets and annually redesigning parks, to creating snack ingredient audio-art in grocery aisles and making city bus stops hopscotch spots.
