A dynamic policy and implementation brief created by Ph.D Candidate John Borrero and the Collaboration for Early Childhood in Oak Park to disrupt the preschool-to-prison pipeline. It outlines how Illinois (and other states!) can leverage existing workforce development to encourage formerly justice-involved Black and Brown men who are interested in early childhood education to become forces for change as caregivers.

After decades of enforced cultural erasure by the American government, Hawaii's Pūnana Leo Schools are prominent examples of reclaiming native language, culture, and education practices through preschool and beyond. They’ve successfully graduated 17 classes from K-12 Hawaiian medium schools, and are now seeing their third generation of new Hawaiian native speakers who’ve been raised with traditional Hawaiian philosophy and values.
